This audit was done by Heather McCain at Creating Accessible Neighbourhoods.
Massy Books location has been awarded an Accessibility Certification by the Rick Hansen Foundation. The blueprints, of the store when empty, are on their website. The blueprints use inches unlike the Canadian Standards Association measurement of millimetres (Rick Hansen Foundation measures in mm). No details of accessibility facilitators/barriers on their site
Massy Books is close to transit, the closest routes are #3, 8, 9, 22.
Bus stop nearest the main entrance is one block away on Main Street
There is an accessible stop with a concrete pad between road and sidewalk
There is no Passenger Pick-up/Drop-Off Area
There is one designated accessible parking space up the block from Massy Books.
Pay parking. Parking meter on accessible surface, controls are operable with one hand without tight grasping, pinching, or twisting of the wrist. The parking meter does not have tactile and/or auditory information.
There are four bike racks near the bookstore.
The bike racks are off the path of travel and do not impede the accessible path of travel.
Landscaping does not create barriers, hazards, or protruding objects.
Curb ramps stable and firm with appropriate space for turning at the top.
Not all curb ramps line up with the curb ramp on the opposite side of the street.
