“The new guard of CanLit has arrived, and it is young, diverse, wired—and passionately political.”—The Toronto Star
Growing Room: A Feminist Literary Festival is Room magazine’s annual literary festival, a celebration of diverse Canadian writers and artists which takes place every March on the traditional, unceded, and ancestral territory of the Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh, and Squamish peoples (Vancouver, British Columbia).
Room is committed to inclusion and accessibility, and registration for the majority of panels and readings at Growing Room is pay-what-you-can or by-donation. Growing Room is a celebration, a protest, a reflection, a re-visioning, a gathering, a question, and a dream.
The 2019 Growing Room festival will take place from March 8 – 17, 2019. The line-up for Growing Room 2019 has been announced. We’re delighted to welcome over 100 authors to the festival this year. The festival schedule will be announced on January 15, 2019, and tickets will go on sale on February 1, 2019.
Accessibility information about festival venues is available at festival.roommagazine.com/venues-and-accessibility/. If you are planning on attending and require ASL interpretation at your events, please get in touch with our volunteer coordinator, Yilin Wang, at volunteer [at] roommagazine [dot] com.
Growing Room was founded in 2017 by the Growing Room Collective (led by collective members Meghan Bell, Chelene Knight, and Arielle Spence).
